It's been a while.

Apr. 7th, 2009 | 07:04 pm

As I have not updated this thing in quite a while, my girlfriend has decided to update by proxy. I'm still working at Best Buy in Greensboro, I've been applying for gaming jobs and working on my website on a regular basis. Jess and I went to Chicago in February; it snowed, we visited an awesome comic book store, went to Second City, rode an elevator to the top of the largest building in North America (Sears Tower), and the city was so amazing we want to move there. I applied for a job there, we'll see what happens. Finally, Edy, my adorable, cute, smart niece (and goddaughter) turned one last month. At her party, she preferred the tissue paper to the gifts. I think that's enough for now.

It's Me Again

Things have been going pretty well for me lately. I lost over 15lb's on my diet, and I'm feeling damn good right now :). My job at Best Buy has been a lot of fun though kind of crazy at times. Going into it I wasn't even promised part time work after the holidays, but now theyre offering me full time after just because they like me. I also put my resume up on monster.com, and have started doing some freelance flash work for a lady here in Kernersville. It's actually not my favorite job, but I get $18 an hour from it $_$. Thats two paychecks coming in next week. A military sim company is also showing interest in hiring me :).

I'm currently in a relationship with perhaps the most awesome girl in the universe. She is gorgeous, and smart, and has the best taste in music :D!!! She's going to come spend christmas with me, Shan, and Jay. Last week she took me to a japanese steakhouse, and when we got there we found out it would be an hour wait, so we decided to try some Sake in the meantime. That is some strong stuff. It pretty much burns all the way down. Two shot glass sized cups later and our table was ready. The food was seriously almost too good. After that we went to see Walk Hard, which ended up not being as funny as I had hoped, but not too bad. All in all a good date!!

This could be a lot longer, but I'm getting sleepy, and work is at 5am tomorrow so bye!!

First Day (or morning) Of Work

I went in at 6am today. The first thing I was taught was how to stock new releases, and it was actually kind of odd. I get this diagram which has a bunch of numbered plots on it, and each plot stands for a spot on the shelf. The numbers stand for the particular product. It sounds basic, but some of the plots dont make much sense. Like 23 comes after 22, but 23 is new today, and so we need to face more of them, only instead of doing it like 22,23,23,23,24 we do it like 22,23,24,23,23,25. If I lost you I'm sorry :P. Anyway, it doesnt make much sense. So I did all that, and then I went off to the warehouse and collected another load of DVD's. I started stocking those, but had to stop early in order to set up the new release cd's. When the store opened at 8 there was an instant line at the Wii cage. The Wii is a hot ticket item, so we have to supervise it as it makes its way to the checkout. This was actually kind of fun. I got to talk about video games to a bunch of moms :P. All in all it was a good day. Lots of stocking, some customer services here and there. Good stuff.

[Non-Work Related]
I met a pretty cool girl! Who is both pretty, and cool :P. She likes zombie and B movies. Awesomeness I know! She also likes The Doors, and just about every other piece of music I like. We're planning on meeting up next wednesday to watch some Evil Dead!! I'm happy. Even if we just become friends and nothing more, its nice to finally know someone here.

>< Cant Get It Out Of My Head

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh
Do You Realize - that everyone you know
Someday will die -

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize

[First and Foremost]
I'm freezing my grapes off over here! It's only in the 70's but it doesn't even matter. It's cold! To think I wanted to see snow :P. Actually I still wouldn't mind seeing it. Maybe of a warmer variety. If it snows mashed potatoes I will be a happy guy. Aside from that NC is still pretty cool, and I like living here.

[Webcomics]
By chance I stumbled upon a cool group of (really talented)people who make their own webcomics. They all live in NC and have meetings once a month. How cool is that? I'm hoping to learn a lot from them, and I made it a point to start reading their stuff so when I get to meet them I'll know what they've all done. I've always wanted to try my hand at webcomics, but never felt like I had the time to do it. Now that I'm out of college though I feel like I've got all the time I'll ever need. I already have the idea, and my plan is to get five stories and an intro done before I launch the website. If you guys have liked any cartoons I've ever drawn, or if you like Bread Man, you will probably like what I'm going to make :).

[The Doors]
Are pure awesomeness! I bought their "Very Best Of" cd collection and I can't stop listening to it. 60's music is so interesting. Half of the lyrics don't make sense, and then the other half is either about Vietnam or drugs.

[The Girl Front]
Welcome to the segment of the show where we discuss my love life. *applause*. Still no dates. I think my mystic powers of allure wore off in Florida. Either that or my manly pheromones blew off on the ride back up here :P. Not helping matters at all, my sister and her husband tell me all about this cute girl they know who loves Star Wars and other amazingly geeky things, and while I'm drooling all over myself they spring the "yeah....too bad she already has a boyfriend or we'd introduce you....ah well". O_+

Imma done

Take care guys

Life

Is looking good right now! I was offered a part-time job at Best Buy, so know I can earn some dough while I work on my portfolio some more. Theyre starting me at $8.25 which was more than I was expecting. The job itself is "Media Specialist" which is a fancy way of saying I get to help people find games, movies, and musak. I'm just stoked at how well I did at the interviews :). Moving on, I heard back from a company in Fayetteville NC which is a big military town, and they are reviewing my portfolio for a possible job. If I got that job I'd be working on military sim stuff, and possibly get to work on classified they'll kill ya if you talk kinda stuff. Very exciting!! A comic book shop in Winston Salem is really into promoting local artists by selling their comics, and the owner wanted to sell Captain Kernersville for me :D. I mentioned to him that it was just a cover and nothing more, but he seems to think there could be some good stories there. Personally I have another idea I want to turn into a comic. It's a bit less superhero but has me really excited. We'll see what happens. Adobe Illustrator by the by is a lot cooler than I originally thought. OH!! and theres some zombiecon thing coming in may!! How awesome does that sound? My mind is a bit on the hyper side right now :P

Take care guys

Hola Peepas

I recently traveled back to the sunshine state to claim my car and I ran into some resistance. The second day I was here (I'm still here by the by) my dad and me woke up early to go and get the title put in my name. We had a giant stack of papers, so I figured we were good to go. Unfortunently we werent. The car belonged to a lady who had passed away, and it was her son who was selling it to us, so the title needed to be transferred into her sons name first before it could be transferred into mine. It gets even more crazy. The son has a sister who also needed to sign off and say she was cool with the car being sold to me. The lady at the title office explained to us that we were missing a few things, and assured us if we had the missing items we would be golden. Dad called the guy up (he lives in michigan) and told him what we needed. Twoish days later the package arrived. The next morning we woke up early again and went back to the title office. I was finally going to be able to drive my car!! Or not... We gave the lady our paperwork and waited for her to check and make sure it was all in order. She said "no problems it all looks godly now just let me enter it into the computer and .... oops looks like the computers are down.... well geez that like never happens" So we waited an hour and still no computers. Defeated we returned home. Dad had to head off to work, but he was very dedicated to the cause and went back to the title office on his lunch break to see if the computers were back up. They werent. The next day my dad went to the Palm Beach title office to see if he could get it all worked out there. They told him he didnt even need to get the title transferred into the dead womans sons name, and that it could just go directly into my name. Dad was all like "are you sure about that because they sing a different song over in Delray." The lady said she was positive and she signed a bunch of documents that would help speed things up a bit in Delray. The day after that we woke up bright and early once more for what we hoped would be the last attempt at acquiring a title. Dad showed the lady all of our papers, and explained to her what the woman from the previous day had said about us not needing to transfer the title into the other dudes name. The woman said "nay, thats all a bunch of bull jive." Dad was like "Ok then I guess we'll just do it the other way which is longer and makes half the sense." And then we smiled and waited for everything to process. Finally they gave me a brand new plate!!! And they all lived happily ever after.

Major Confidence Bolstering

Ever since I came back to Florida things have been interesting on the girl front... On at least three separate occasions girls have been interested in me to the point where if I had asked them on a date there is no doubt in my mind that they would say yes. My mom has even noticed it. I have no idea what I'm doing differently, but hopefully I can keep it up :D
------------------------------------
I'm supposed to be back home on wednesday, so I'll talk to you guys then :)

Take care
Dev
